Merger Assessment Resolution
Dec. 18, 2008 - MEC Unanimously Ratifies Merger Assessment Resolution At the December fourth quarter MEC meeting, the NWA MEC unanimously approved a merger assessment resolution. This resolution provides that upon a triggering event as designated by the Merger Committee and approval of the MEC, NWA pilots shall be assessed in the manner set forth in the resolution in order to accumulate a total merger fund of approximately $3 million. Again, this Merger Assessment will not begin until a triggering event requires the Merger Committee to request approval of the assessment from the MEC. If and when these Merger Assessments begin, it will take 12 months to accumulate $3 million for the Merger Fund. Assessment funds will be held in an interest bearing account. Any unused funds will be refunded to pilots with accumulated interest when the merger threat subsides.

SPSC Summit
Dec. 7, 2007 - SPSC Update NWA MEC Strategic Preparedness & Strike Committee (SPSC) Chairman Greg Rizzuto and Vice Chairman Matt Coons were joined by over 100 pilots from 23 airlines representing seven airline unions at a nationwide planning summit Dec. 5 in Houston, Texas. The topics for discussion included ways to help each airline secure contract improvements, management and labor dysfunctional relations and the aligning of all pilot unions for contract protection and repair. “Every major airline and freight company in the United States joined together to discuss preparations for the inevitable conflict between pilots and management," Chairman Rizzuto said. "The pilots in our country are tired of being over worked and under paid. We will be heard and our contracts restored.”

Pre-Bankruptcy Petition Cases
Nov. 16, 2007 - Pre-Bankruptcy Petition Cases Update As previously reported, ALPA and NWA management have reached agreement in principle on the settlement of the pre-bankruptcy petition grievances, which include Force Majeure II and III. We continue to work towards finalizing the settlement, but the process is agonizingly slow. We understand many members are anxiously waiting for this settlement and are frustrated with the slow process. As of today, we hope to have the agreement finalized by the end of the month with a goal of payment of claims by the end of 2007. Please keep in mind that, with difficult financial transactions such as this settlement, there is a possibility that the timeline may be extended. Although the process has been very slow, we believe the ultimate settlement will result in a much better outcome.

Pilots For Kids
Oct. 26, 2007 - Pilots For Kids Launch Through the thick and thin of the past several years, NWA pilots have provided fantastic support for the hospitalized and underprivileged children helped by the Pilots For Kids program. The NWA pilot group has brought smiles to over 17,000 children since we've been involved! For this, you should all feel very proud. The kids are looking forward to this season's visits and we are once again asking for your support. Donation envelopes will be distributed to pilot mailboxes soon for your convenience. If you are not a regular contributor to the program, please take a moment to consider that a simple $5 tax-deductible donation would make a world of difference. Please mail your donation checks payable to PILOTS FOR KIDS to: Captain Jim Zurales NWA Pilots For Kids Coordinator 13520 Harvest Ct.
